Types of Counseling

Individual Therapy

Individual therapy involves meeting with a counselor one on one. Individual therapy sessions may focus on issues such as academic performance, stress management, motivation, self-esteem, relationship concerns, grief and loss, and adjustment to life changes.

Couples Therapy

Couples therapy involves both partners meeting together with a counselor to discover ways to communicate with each other more effectively. At least one of the partners must be a registered WSU student to receive this service.

Group Therapy

Group therapy typically involves a group of 4-6 students who meet with a counselor(s) who leads the group. Group therapy allows students to connect with their peers and provide each other with support and encouragement. Groups run for one semester, and topics may frequently change.
