Clinical Services
Eligible students must schedule a 60-minute Initial Consultation on Teams with a CAPS counselor to review completed paperwork and explore current needs and treatment options. After the Initial Consultation, our Clinical Review Team will customize treatment recommendations for each student, which may include clinical and/or non-clinical services at CAPS or referrals to other campus- or community-based providers.
Initial Consultation > Clinical Review Team > Treatment Recommendations
Service options may include:
-
Intake for Short-Term Counseling
-
Brief Problem Solving: 4 sessions focusing on one problem
-
Group Therapy
-
Case Management: for some students, the referral process speeds up their connection to other services available on campus or within the community.
Group Therapy
To participate in our group program, currently-enrolled WSU students who are not already seeing a CAPS counselor must schedule a 60-minute Initial Consultation on Teams to verify enrollment and eligibility.
If you already have a CAPS counselor, please request a group referral from your assigned counselor.
Psychiatric Medication Management (these services are on hold until further notice)
When it is clinically indicated, currently-enrolled WSU students already meeting with an assigned CAPS counselor for a course of short-term counseling may be referred by their CAPS counselor to the CAPS psychiatrist or a psychiatric resident for a Psychiatric Evaluation, Medication Review, and referrals to community medication providers for longer-term care. Consistent with most clinical settings in the community, psychiatric services are prioritized for our counseling clients. If a student wishes to meet with a psychiatrist but is not interested in counseling, our Case Manager will help identify community-based providers for medication mangement.
