APA Accredited Psychology Internship

WSU CAPS' Psychology Internship is a paid full-time (40 hours per week) twelve-month position with University holidays, benefits, and vacation. The total training comprises at least 2000 hours of supervised clinical experience. The arrangements for supervision meet the supervisory requirements of the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs.

Fully accredited since 2023, the WSU CAPS Internship Program accreditation goes through 2033.  This program became an APPIC member in November 2018.

Experience Needed:

Candidates must be enrolled and in good standing in a doctoral program in clinical or counseling psychology, and must have completed their Master's degree, completed qualifying exams, and have proposed their dissertation project by the start of the internship.

Application Process:

WSU CAPS is a member of the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC) and participates in the APPIC National Match. As APPIC members, we abide by APPIC's match policies. This internship site agrees to abide by the APPIC policy that no person at this training facility will solicit, accept, or use any ranking-related information from any intern applicant.   3. Curriculum vitae
  4. 3 recommendation letters
  5. Graduate school transcript

Top candidates will be selected for an interview. All interviews are conducted via Zoom or telephone. Interviews will be scheduled for late December and/or early January and are approximately one hour in length. The Selection Committee typically consists of the Training Director and 2-4 senior staff members. Top candidates will also be given information on how to get further information from current interns.

The WSU CAPS Training Committee is responsible for setting selection criteria, developing the interview protocol, reviewing applications, conducting interviews, and determining the rank order candidacy of applicants.
