Assessment & Referral Services

You may receive a referral to an outside clinic, community mental health agency, or private practitioner if the CAPS staff determine that our program might not be able to meet your needs. In all cases, we work with you to determine the best approach to address your concerns. If a referral is given, we will follow up with you to ensure that you are able to effectively connect with the outside service.

In addition, we may make referrals during therapy or at the conclusion of therapy. For example, you may benefit from additional resources; in this case, we might refer you to an outside clinic, community mental health agency, private practitioner, support group, community resource, or other WSU resources (e.g., the campus health center, the Psychology Clinic, the University Psychiatric Clinic, Academic Advising, Career Services, Financial Aid, etc).

CAPS has a case manager who is available to help to connect you with campus and community-based referrals.
